Hi, guys —

What is the Church's take on Stem Cell Research?

  { What is the Church's stance on Stem Cell Research? }

Mary Ann replied:

Anonymous —

The Church believes that research using adult stem cells, and umbilical cord stem cells is absolutely wonderful. This research has brought about cures for diabetes, heart disease, sickle cell anemia, and many other things (see stemcellresearch.org). You won't hear about these great successes in the mainstream press because they push embryonic stem cell research.

The Church condemns embryonic stem cell research because it works by harvesting stem cells from living human embryos, killing them in the process.
