Hi, guys —

Upon reading St .Theresa of the Little Way in our weekly study group, we came across the reference to the Carmel.

  • Does this refer to the convent, the order, or something else?

In our research, we have been unable to find an answer.

Thanks for your help.

Rosanne

  { In St .Theresa's the Little Way, what does the phrase, the Carmel, refer to? }

Richard replied:

Hi, Rosanne —

It's common to refer to a particular Carmelite convent as the Carmel.

Richard

Mary Ann replied:

Rosanne —

Carmel refers to:

  • the Order
  • a house of the Order
  • the way of life
  • the spiritual life, and
  • the [Garden|Mountain] of Carmel in the Holy Land from which the Order takes its name.

Rosanne replied:

Thank you so much for all the information.

Our group will appreciate this!
