Hi, guys —

  • How do find out the history of my Catholic parish:
    • it's statues on the walls
    • the Saints enshrined in the altar, and
    • the stories of the windows?

I am looking for details to show and share with our Scripture Study Students. The Church was built in 1963. The statues are hard to guess. The Church is Saint Juliana in Chicago, Illinois.

Thanks for your help in this research enigma.

Frances

  { How do I find the history of my Catholic parish, it's statues, and the Saints enshrined in the altar? }

Mike replied:

Hi, Frances —

Thanks for the question.

I'm not sure how much I can help. Usually, to my knowledge, most historical information about anything unique to the parish can be found within the parish records at the rectory; just talk to the pastor.

If you are interested in historical information, not unique to Saint Juliana's, your best bet would be to search the New Advent web site @ https://www.NewAdvent.org/cathen. They have the Old 1917 Catholic encyclopedia on-line. This would help in discovering more about Saint Juliana and the other saints enshrined in the altar, assuming you can find out what saints have been enshrined in the altar.

The statues on the wall of the parish, and the stories of the windows would be unique to the parish's history.

Hope this helps,

Mike

Frances replied:

Mike,

Thanks for your information.

You have helped me once before!

God Bless,

Frances
