Andrew Fleming wrote:

Hi, guys —

I am Catholic and I have to go to Sweden (a Lutheran/Atheist country) for at least a year.

I know we Catholics have an obligation to attend Mass every Sunday. My problem is that I will be in an area where the closest Catholic church is a half-a-day's drive away.

Nevertheless, there is a Lutheran church in the village.

  • Should I visit the Lutheran service, or
  • Should I just not go to Mass at all and stay away from the Protestant churches?

Kind regards and God bless,

Andrew

Eric replied:

Andrew —

If it is too much of a burden to go to Catholic Mass, you are excused from the obligation entirely and need not attend a Protestant service.

In fact you're probably better off not doing so.

Eric
