Confused Carol and my hubby wrote:

Hi, guys —

  • In general, could you suggest a couple of books that would address the topic of God-honoring sexual relations in marriage?

We are both between the age 65 and 70.

Things like:

  • how to treat one another when libido is different for each person
  • selflessness toward one another when one is disappointed, and
  • how can one still feel worthwhile if not wanting sex as much as the other person.

Anything you have to say on this subject would also be helpful. We both love one another but sex has become a continual reason for discontent.

One would like sex four (+) plus times a week and the other only 1-2 times a week.

Many thanks,

Confused Carol and my hubby

Mike replied:

Dear Confused Carol,

Seeing that I am a single Catholic in my 60's still looking for a laughing Sarah, I'm probably not the best one on our team to answer this question but I found a few books on Amazon.com that may be helpful. Maybe one of our married team members knows of some other good resources.

That said, here is what I found:

All of these books appeared to have very high Customer reviews ratings on Amazon. You can read them about halfway down each page.

I can imagine how difficult it is to match libidos; many times sacrifice is required. As Jesus sacrificed for us and our salvation, at times, we must also be open to sacrificing for our spouse.

Maybe there is a good Catholic marriage counselor your local parish or diocese can recommend.

I hope this helps,

Mike
