Hi, guys —

I am a teenager who loves to read and am a devotee of Christ. There is this particular author — Dan Brown, whose books are widely acclaimed to be some of the best written pieces of all time.

Many of my friends and a few of my relatives also recommended one of his specific books but this book also has caused some controversies in the Church.

  • Is it okay to read the book as long as I keep in mind it is a fiction (which the book description clearly mentions it is)?

I am really confused so please get back to me as soon as possible.

Thanks!

  { As a bookworm and devotee of Christ, is it OK to read contentious, fictional books by Dan Brown? }

Bob replied:

Dear friend,

You can read Dan Brown, although his books are fiction.

The problem arises when someone believes there is a conspiracy of deception at the highest level of the Church, from the mixing of fact and fantasy.

Don't buy it!

There have been many conspiracy theories throughout history, and while entertaining, they don't hold up. Stay firm to the fundamentals of your faith and you'll be okay.

Peace,

Bob Kirby
