Hi, Michele —
This sounds like a homework question,
but in case it isn't, what follows
is from the Catholic Dictionary. You
should be able to look up any other
gifts you don't understand from a
faithful Catholic source like the on-line Catechism of the Catholic
Church. Here are the search results from Gifts
of the Holy Spirit.

The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit:
From Isaiah 11:2:
There shall come forth a shoot
from the stump of Jesse, and a
branch shall grow out of his roots.
And the Spirit of the LORD shall
rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom
and understanding, the spirit
of counsel and might, the spirit
of knowledge and the fear of the
LORD. And his delight shall be
in the fear of the LORD.
(Isaiah 11)
They can also be found in 1 Corinthians
12, Romans 12, and Ephesians 4.
The seven gifts are:
- Wisdom (sapientia), [Greek
word follows]
- Understanding (intellectus),
- Knowledge (scientia),
- Fortitude or courage (fortitudo),
- Counsel (consilium),
- Piety or love (pietas),
and
- Fear of the Lord (timor Domini)
These gifts are given by Christ
to His followers to assist them in
following the promptings of the Holy
Spirit. |
Wisdom: As one of the
seven gifts of the Holy Spirit,
wisdom, with knowledge, perfects
the use of judgment; knowledge
perfects the judgment of practical
reason, while wisdom perfects
the judgment of speculative reason.
In the Bible, Wisdom is the name
for the personification of God's
wise dealings and plan for the
world and the human race, manifest
in both creation and redemption.
