Hi, guys —
Our parish priest recently showed a video
on Saint Margaret Marie (or Margaret Mary).
In the video it said that Christ had chosen
Margaret Marie as his bride.
- Does that mean Jesus loves her more then
other people?
- Isn't it true that the whole Catholic
Church together is the bride of Christ?
- Doesn't Jesus love us all equally (but
also in a unique way that makes us each
special) or
does he love some more and others less?
Thank you so much for any advice you have.
This has really been bothering me. I know this may sound selfish but I want to
be just as special in Jesus's Eyes, as everyone
else.
I don't want Him to love somebody else more
than me.
Thanks,
Emily

Hi, Emily —
Thank you for your question.
God loves us all equally, however,
not all of us respond to that love
to the same degree. We all have free
will, therefore we all develop different
relationships with the Lord. It may
appear that God's Love sometimes
varies from person to person.
God does call each of us to different
ministries or assignments, therefore,
the amount of grace that is dispensed
fits what we are called to do but
this doesn't mean He loves some more
than others.
The entire Church is, indeed, the
Bride of Christ. St. Paul uses this
metaphor in his letter to the Ephesians, (Ephesians 5:22-33)
as does St. John in the Book of Revelation (Revelation 19:7, Revelation 21:1-10).
Finally, if you want to develop your
relationship with the Lord, you need
to do your part. If you want to get
to know God, you should start by
reading and meditating on His Sacred
Word found in Sacred Scripture. Needless
to say, you need to live a sacramental
life and spend time with Him in prayer.
Concentrate on your relationship
with Him and don't worry about other
people.

Attending Sunday Mass while
regularly receiving the sacrament
of Confession would be good.
I've
heard some bishops recommend Confession
on a monthly basis.
Beside reading the Scriptures, praying
the Rosary can be a great way to
strengthen your spiritual life and,
in my selfish opinion, the
Promises of the Rosary alone
are worth praying it :-)
