John Thom wrote:

Hi, guys —

I am a 54-year-old male and a lifelong Catholic.

  • Do you think Our Lord would forgive a person who commits suicide and allow them into His Kingdom of Heaven?

Thank you for any help or guidance.

John

Bob replied:

John,

Suicide is a sin, however God is in the business of forgiving sins.

Whether he holds a person responsible only He could say. Mercy is always possible, but so is the deception of the evil one. If one is clinically depressed or has other circumstances that press heavily on their psyche, they need to employ every bit of help possible.

Suicide is never a solution, but we will always entrust those that failed in this regard to the Mercy of God.

Peace,

Bob Kirby
