  { Can a lay person write a consecration prayer for the world and offer it to Mary? }

Paul replied:

Hello Nancy,

I suppose they could, as lay people can offer any petition to God through Mary, however, I wouldn't expect it to have the same authority as the Church (as a whole) offering it through the popes, as has been done in the past.

Peace,

Paul

Nancy replied:

Paul,

Thank-you for answering so quickly.

Those were my feelings as well but I wanted to make sure.

Bless you and have a Holy and Blessed Christmas.

Nancy

Bob replied:

Nancy,

Yes, however, in order for it to be considered approved it would have to be approved by the Church, (at least a Bishop) so, without that, it becomes a simply a private devotion, which anyone is free to use if they feel it is of value and it doesn't contradict Church teaching.

Peace,

Bob Kirby

Nancy replied:

Thank you for the clarification Bob,

Nancy
