Wondering Will wrote:

Hi, guys —

I was born and raised a Catholic and have attended private Catholic schools my whole life. I often heard classmates or teachers talking about one saint or angel that they found a special attachment or connection with, however, I never really felt this with any figure other than the Lord.

Recently I stumbled onto the archangel Uriel and have been researching him for days. I am very intrigued by this archangel but I do have one concern.

  • Is Uriel part of the Catholic religion like for example Michael or Gabriel?

I would simply like to make sure that Uriel is part of Catholicism and not some other religion.

Thank you!

Will

Eric replied:

Hi, Will —

No. Uriel is not mentioned in the canonical Scriptures so he is not part of Catholic devotion.

We only venerate by name angels mentioned in Scripture:

  1. Gabriel
  2. Michael, and
  3. Raphael.

Eric
