Hon wrote:

Hi, guys —

I am Catholic; my mother and father raised me that way and I am very thankful for how I was brought up and the values they instilled in me. I believe I look at things and judge them, for the most part, in the right way.

My problem is with Catholics or, those who claim to be Catholic, and how they look at things. In particular, I have problems with the following individuals:

  1. Nancy Pelosi
  2. Gavin Newsom
  3. Joe Biden
  4. Steven Colbert and
  5. . . . many, many more.

As one can see, they belong to a particular side of the political aisle. I have difficulty with the Catholic Church not stepping in and publicly stating:

  • that these individuals do not represent our values, and that
  • they should not be considered part of the Catholic Church any longer.

  • Why is the Catholic Church not voicing any opinion as to which side is correct, especially when so much lying is going on?

Bob replied:

Dear Hon,

Thanks for the question.

You are not alone in your assessment of the Church's hierarchy, frankly the US Bishops. They have been woefully silent on these matters and all the persons mentioned warrant excommunication for their anti-Catholic rhetoric, apostasy, policies and actions, not least of which is a radical promotion of legalized abortion throughout the full term of pregnancy and, in some cases, infanticide for survivors of abortion. It is truly deplorable.

Jesus said we are salt of the Earth but further that salt that loses its flavor is useless and will be thrown out and trampled underfoot. (Matthew 5:13) This is a grave warning to all, especially the clergy who are most responsible for admonishing the political order for the sake of the kingdom of God.

  • Where is the salt?

It seems to have lost its flavor. We can only pray now that they will wake up. In the meantime, we must be salt. We must follow closely to Christ and bring light and salt to those around us.

  • Pray for conversions
  • pray for the ability to witness to Christ.
  • Pray for the Church to withstand the trials that are upon us.

Look at how in Christ's own day the clergy of the time were so eager to put Him to death and exclaim we have no king but Caesar.

  • Things seem to have come full circle, haven't they?

Of course not all are in the same boat, but those that are speaking the truth are few.

There is hope, however, we have the Blessed Mother Mary to comfort us, guide us and intercede for us with her Son to bring a triumph to the Church when all this has played out.

Seek refuge in the Rosary everyday and you will be OK.

Peace,

Bob Kirby
