Dear Lucy,
Bad things happen to all of us and on a regular basis. This is to be expected in a post-Eden world where sin and injustice have been mixed in with God's perfect world of truth, goodness, and beauty.
Jesus, too, had many bad things happen to Him. Yet, He accepted, even embraced, them for our salvation. As members of His Body (the Body of Christ - the Church), we too may offer God our sufferings in union with Christ for the salvation of souls, including our own.
This doesn't mean we welcome injustice. We always must fight against it with firmness, truth, and love. Further, we must always discern what "bad things" occur because of our own fault.
It's very important to 1.) frequently encounter Christ in the sacrament of Confession. 2.) Prayer may also give us insight on what direction in which to turn. And 3.) speaking with a friend, family member, or good Christian counselor might also help.
In general, keep right with God, don't follow "the world" no matter how challenging that may be, and all things you need will fall into place:
6 33 Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given you as well.
(Matthew 6:33) |
In God's peace and joy,
Paul
