Hi, guys —

I'm having terrible scrupulosity over wearing grey sweatpants.

I have a pair of Adidas that I wear, and while it's not skintight, it does accentuate my bulge, and you can sometimes see some details. I know women find the pants attractive on men but, man, I like my sweatpants, and I'd hate to throw them away, but I don't know if it's a mortal sin to wear these pants. I know my wife likes them too.

  • How do I know, as a man, if I'm sinning against modesty?

I am also a bodybuilder as a hobby, and I have a very muscular physique, so I hate baggy clothes. I like athletic-fitting clothes because it's comfortable.

This is a conundrum; any help would be appreciated,

Thanks!!

Timothy

Dear Timothy,

You clearly need to change something, or your conscience wouldn't be pinging you.

Maybe you can change your briefs, but modesty should be employed.  If you can't make it work with these pants, donate them.  You can find something better.  Following Christ means being in the world but not of it, so don't take (the advice or standards) of the world; they will lead you wrong every time.  Just keep your eyes fixed on impressing Christ; He is the only Man (Man-God) who truly cares about every aspect of you, including how you present yourself.

Peace,

Bob Kirby
