Hi, guys —

I have a considerable personal charitable foundation. I would like a friend (a retired Catholic Priest) to run the foundation for a couple of years until we can hire a long-term executive to handle it.

  • Can I hire my friend, and can he accept a salary?

I really want to make sure this is OK before I bring it up to him.

Thank you.

Rich C.

Rich —

I am not aware of any obstacles or impediments, but we are not competent in matters of canon law and cannot offer legal advice. You might at some point have to hire a canon lawyer to be sure, but I see no reason not to bring it up with your friend and see if he is aware of any impediment to it.

Eric
