The answer is simple:
- When you consider that Jesus is God and knows all things, how could he not know?
- But then again, knowing that Jesus divested himself of so much of his divine privilege as the only begotten Son of God, did He know?
Surely it is the prerogative of God the Father to inform the Son of those things that He considers important, especially for our sake. Through the Holy Spirit, Christ lived out a life as a simple man who acted as though He had no power of His own, and yet He did have the full power of God. This is a point of mystery: a fact that can only be understood in some limited way, but not fully understood.
