Hi, guys —

We are soon to have our second child and we are thinking of baby names.

  • We were wondering if the name Tiffany was the name of a Catholic Saint?

Thank you,

John

Mike replied:

Hi, John —

Sorry it took a while to get back to you. In my research, I couldn't find any historical evidence that Tiffany was the name of a Catholic saint.

Although in the past, Catholic.org has had some shady website reviews, they have a good compilation of saints names you and the Mrs. can browse through.

CatholicSaints.Info also is a good source.

I have a book that is over 50 years old called Is it a saint's name? and under the Ti 's I found:

  • Tina — Nickname for (Christina, Ernestine, and Martina)
  • Titiana, and
  • Tilda (Matilda)

The only thing I found in Canon Law on this issue was the following:

Canon 855 — Parents, sponsors, and the pastor are to take care that a name foreign to Christian sensibility is not given.

Hope this helps,

Mike

John replied:

Mike,

Thank you so much for your help!

Take care,

John
