Hi, Eric —

  • Have you heard of researchers trying to find codes in the Jewish Torah to predict the future?

They have predicted:

  • the Tsunamis
  • 9/11, and
  • the World Wars.

They also predicted the world would end in 2012, and a World War III in 2006. I think it was started by someone named Michael Drosnin.

  • Should anyone believe in this?

Eric replied:

Hi, Britney —

I think I've heard something like this.

The problem is, it's easy to interpret something like this to fit preconceived conclusions. It may look impressive on the surface but when carefully scrutinized, it falls apart. I'm not familiar with this particular situation so I can't comment on it specifically, but I would take it with a grain of salt.

I've heard many such predictions in the past and they've all turned out to be false. It's easy to get caught up in end times predictions. I was there once. The bottom line is, for you, the end of the world is tomorrow, and you should act that way.

In other words, you can die at any time, even tomorrow, and for you, that's the end of the world, and you must always be prepared for it. Never put off repentance until tomorrow; reform your life today. That's all any Christian needs to know about the end times. Note that Jesus said no one would know the day or the hour (Matthew 24:36), so we aren't supposed to be predicting it anyway.
