Hi Andrea,
You must consider that the Old Testament and the Bible, as a whole, give us a history.
It records what the men and women of Old Testament did with all their imperfections.
The fact that David, Abraham, and the Patriarchs practiced polygamy does not mean
it had God's blessing or that this was God's intent for man and woman.
If you read Genesis, you will read the story of Jacob's family. There are some pretty
sordid instances. In fact, some of these guys could be on the Jerry Springer show
these days.
You would find instances of:
- incest
- prostitution, and
- what not.
That doesn't mean it was God's Will.
The overall message of the Bible is about God's grace and mercy. It tells a story
of how God used men and women, in spite of their imperfections, to His Glory.
