Hi, guys —

I have been raised a Catholic and would like to know where in a Catholic Bible there is a mention of the dark one?

We've looked in the book of Revelation and cannot find any reference.

Thank you and God Bless.

Cathy

Eric replied:

Hi, Cathy —

First, he is called the ancient serpent — see Revelation 12:9-15 and Revelation 20:2.

He is also called the dragonRevelation 12:9, 13 ,16, 17; Revelation 13:1-4,11, Revelation 16:13, and Revelation 20:2.

There is also the beast, but that is not Satan, but rather a person or force doing Satan's bidding.

People also refer to the antichrist, but that isn't even mentioned in Revelation; besides, the antichrist is not Satan himself but anyone who denies Jesus is the Christ come in the flesh or denies the Father and the Son (1 John 2:22, 2 John 1:7).

Hope this helps,

Eric

Cathy replied:

Hi, Eric —

Yes, I was familiar with most of what you said. I am speaking of the dark one as in a person taking us in to or one who is the Beast.

I want to know where and what book it specifically says the Dark One.

It does exist!

Cathy

Eric replied:

Dear Cathy,

I am afraid I don't understand what you mean when you speak of the dark one as in a person taking us in to.

  • Into what?

The Bible doesn't refer to the Dark One as such. This is a tradition outside of the Bible.

For references to The Beast in Revelation, see Bible Gateway Search.
