Hi, guys —
- Why don't you observe Shabbat, in direct violation of the Bible Commandment?
Observing Sunday obviously doesn't count since it is not Shabbat and according to Catholic Church — Sunday is the first day of the week, not the last one.
Shabbat was commanded to be observed on Saturday.

Dear Pawel,
There are articles in our database that cover this in detail, so I will just say that the Lord, as Lord of the Sabbath, changed its observance to the first day of the week by His Resurrection and by His Holy Spirit's instruction to His Apostles.

Maybe I am really bad with searching. I could not find anything on that subject in your database.
I have already heard the reasoning you have provided. This is why I asked that question. As far as I know, there is no single event that was ever recorded in the New Testament that would explain this change.

It really seems to be contrary to the common belief that Jesus changed Shabbat day — in fact,
He emphasized, on several occasions, the Importance of the Sabbath and the Law of Mosses:
20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath.

As well as when He was asked how to get to Kingdom of Heaven He responded:
- As far as I know the Emperor Constantine made this change in 321 A.D., am I not right?

Pawel —
He began the New Day of the New Creation on Sunday by rising from the dead. He gave the Apostles His Spirit on a Sunday and He met with them on successive Sundays.
In the book of Acts, the Apostles gathered on Sunday. (Acts 20:7) It is the New Law given by the new Moses; Christ gave His Apostles, especially Peter, the authority to bind and loose and to spread His Word. (Matthew 16:13-19, Matthew 18:15-20)
When they did, it was to say that Sunday is the New Sabbath, the symbol of the eternal Day of rest that Christ has entered into with His Resurrection, and the Day in which we live, by His Life.
This change of the Sabbath to Sunday, was made by Christ and the Apostles, not by Constantine.

Historically, the Church changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday on the divine authority of the Church Jesus founded. There is no place in the Bible that directly says the Sabbath was changed to Sunday, but Catholic Christians don't use the Bible alone as their sole authority; we trust the teaching Magisterium of the Catholic Church, and oral Tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation by word of mouth, because Jesus, who is God, promised He would protect His Catholic Church, even despite the sinners we have has members in our Church.
