To a large degree the answer is speculative.
You are correct that the unforgivable sin is impenitence or rather a soul closed to God.
Perhaps those bearing the mark are such persons. In effect, it is one and the same thing, emblemized by a sort of anti-baptism symbolism.
Ultimately, God always forgives a repentant heart so there is no need to worry when you humble yourself before Him.
