Hi, guys —

Many people talk about how bad it is when priests con-celebrate Mass. They say that it would be better if all the priests would say their own Mass instead . . . and thus we would get more graces.

I know that in the old days all priests had to say at least one Mass every day, and then maybe assist at the solemn Mass. Nowadays I am not sure how it is.

It seems like a lot has happened with the liturgies and I am a bit confused.

  • What is the official saying of the Church on this topic?

Andrew

  { What is the Church's view of priests concelebrating Mass and do they have to say Mass daily? }

Fr. Jonathan replied:

Dear Andrew,

Concelebration is perfectly legal and good.

Perhaps you are not aware that at a Mass concelebrated with priests, each of the priests on the altar has a separate intention.

Priests don't have to celebrate Mass daily now but previously, yes, they were supposed to.
