Hi, guys —
- How many Catholics are there in Puerto Rico?
- How many are in San Juan, Puerto Rico?
- Also could I get a listing of the Catholic Churches
in New York, Brooklyn, and Long Island archdioceses
in terms of their contributions to the Cardinal's Appeal?
I remember reading that the Catholic New York used
to list each parish and their donation.
Thanks in Advance.

Miguel,
Thank you for your question.
You might try googling for a site that
gives statistics on religious demographics to find
out the Catholic population of Puerto Rico. You might
also contact the diocese of New York to get your
data about the local Cardinal's appeal per parish.
If anyone else on the team has any suggestions
as to where you might search for this data, I'm sure
they will weigh in.
I hope this answer puts you in the right direction.
God Bless

Hi, Miguel —
I have the Catholic population for the continental
United States, but not Puerto Rico and
I did this over ten years ago. If you are interested in the continental United States,
check out this
page.
What you could do is go to the Catholic Hierarchy
web site, and do a diocesan search here:
If you type in: Puerto Rico
you will get a listing of all six dioceses. Four out of six have web sites. For each one click the link to go to the Catholic Hierarchy diocesan page
for that diocese. On the right hand side of each page, under General
Information, you will find the diocesan web site.
From any one of the six diocesan web sites, you
should be able to contact someone who can provide
you with a Catholic Almanac for Puerto Rico. The dioceses are:
- Diocese
of Arecibo
- Diocese
of Caguas [no website]
- Diocese of Fajardo-Humacao [no website]
- Diocese of Mayagüez
- Diocese
of Ponce
- Diocese
of San Juan

You would have to contact each diocese in the
New York to find all their parishes and related information.
Here are the diocesan web sites for the state of New York:
Hope this helps,
