Hi, Leo —
If you have been designated as an
Extraordinary Minister of Communion,
your pastor should have covered these
matters with you.
It is not appropriate to bring the
Eucharist to a prayer meeting at
all. Communion Services are not to
be held when and wherever we want
Communion. Communion is part of Mass,
and is administered outside of Mass
only when:
a.) at the Church at Mass time,
there can be no Mass;
b.) at a deathbed; and
c.) for the hospital-bound or
home bound sick and elderly.
If someone spills the contents of
the pyx, the consecrated hosts should
be reverently gathered (and placed
on a special cloth that exists for
that purpose, if you have one) and
replaced in the pyx. They are returned
to the Church and there are special
instructions for what to do with
them that your pastor will explain
to you.
If you don't want to add soiled hosts
to clean hosts in the pyx, then you
may certainly consume them reverently.
