Hi, guys —
- Would it be wrong to think of God as an
alien?
No, this isn't some sort of joke. I'm serious.
Throughout different periods of time we have
all come to the same general basis for religion.
- Some being comes from the skies to impregnate
mortal woman (God)
- Born child teaches/rules over people
(Jesus)
- Miracles happens
- 'Sent being', goes back up into the sky
I'm not an atheist; I've been instructed in
the Catholic faith ever since I could remember.
- I'm simply asking if there is any truth
to this?
- Would it be such a terrible thing to think
that our God isn't this
almighty omniscient being with an immortal
son?
Maybe there are other types of advanced humanoids
who are constantly watching over us and helping
those they deem worthy.
- Still not totally
convinced?
I invite you to watch this
History
Channel documentary:

Thanks in advance!

Nathan —
Whatever the story of aliens is,
if they exist, they are not God.
God — by definition — is
the perfect, all-wise, all-loving,
Being who is The Source of all being,
including the being of any aliens.
Within Himself, He is Love and Truth,
which are perfect in Him, which means
they are personal:
The Spirit and
the Son.

Hi, Nathan —
You said:

Yes, it would be wrong to think of
God as an alien.
Because Divine
Revelation which has historical roots
based in events and activities that really happened in this physical world tells
believers:
God the Father sent his Son for
the sake of our salvation and
his son, Jesus, died on the Cross
for our sins and rose from the
dead to establish a personal
relationship with everyone who
seeks for Him and wishes to be
saved. |
Unlike Islamic theology which is
more of a (master/slave) model, Christianity
is a (Loving Father/Loving Son) model;
certainly not an (alien/subject) model.
With this as a foundation, certain
aspects of the video you shared do
have credible issues that the Vatican
is looking into. We have answered
a similar question in the following

God isn't this almighty omniscient

Yes, it would wrong, if it is untrue;
and as you should know from your
(CCD) Catholic religious education,
it is not true. The Creed we say
every Sunday is a Creed saints and
martyrs in the Early Church, as well
as those throughout centuries of
Christendom, have died for.
- Would the producers of the History
Channel die for the credibility
of the content in their video?

Mary Ann and Mike,
I want to thank you for answering
my question.
I know the events you mentioned
in Christendom happened; I would
never deny that but like the video
states, It's very possible that if our God and His Son were aliens,
people would have had a very hard
time describing what they saw. That
said, it's very possible the words God or Angel were
the ones that stuck.
I do not deny that there is a Higher
Being out there and I value the lessons
that I have learned from the things
that He has done. It's just that
we all have our impression of the
people we are taught about in the
Bible.
- There is no one, absolute, straight
forward, interpretation to it,
right?
- So why can't mine be alien-like?
Our existence is one that is not
easily explained, but come on! The
Holy Book has been written and re-written
in many different languages and versions,
with things being added and removed
many times, so the readers know what the originals
said. Would it be so difficult to
throw in:
Oh Yeah, and did I mention
he was an alien?

Nathan,
You are mistaken. There is in fact
a true way to look at the Bible.
First of all, it is the Word of God
in the words of men. It isn't just
a bunch of stuff recorded by primitive
men. The Bible is to be interpreted
properly within the Sacred Tradition
from which it came, that is, from
the Church who canonized the sacred
writ — the Catholic Church. Christ
established a Church and gave it
authority.
God is not some being that is superior
or even supreme. God is not a being. God is
being.
His Old Testament name Yahweh or
Jehovah, loosely translated means I
AM that AM, meaning
Self-existent One. We can't reduce
him to the Chairman of the Board.
Christ who is both God and Man, gave
His life for our sins. St. Paul makes
it clear, Christ is the second Adam
(1 Corinthians 15:35-50) so no alien atoned for my sins on
the Cross. It was God Himself, who
had taken on Humanity in order to
give Himself for us and just
as importantly to us.
The message of the Bible is Salvation
— not some inter galactic visitation. John 3:16 states:
16 For God so loved the world that
He sent His only begotten Son (not
droid or probe) that
whoever would believe in Him might
have eternal life
— not
a trip to Deep Space 9.
