Hi, guys —
- If I'm told at age 13 that something is a mortal sin and forget it's a mortal sin, is it still a mortal sin when I commit it later?
- For example: If I'm told something is a mortal sin when I was 13, forgot it was a mortal sin for few years, then later am reminded it was a mortal sin at age 23 and have not forgotten it since, was it a mortal sin during those years I forgot?

Roy,
You can only commit a mortal sin if you know what you are doing is grave matter and deliberately commit it anyway. To commit a mortal sin requires three conditions:
- The sin has to be grave matter (i.e., serious in nature; it has to be a mortal sin as you put it, although this is not exact language.)
- you have know it is a sin, and
- you have to freely commit it (i.e., deliberately, with sufficient reflection, and knowingly).
If any of those is not true, you haven't committed a mortal sin, however it would still be a venial sin.
