Hi, guys —
- I wanted to ask if I would be allowed to receive Communion or remarry since my divorce?
Me and my ex-husband were not Christian when we married. I became Catholic in 2010 and we divorced in 2014. I haven't been attending Mass because I'm not sure if I can receive Holy Communion since the divorce.
- Also, would I have to get an annulment before dating or remarrying?
We were married in a civil ceremony.

Can I receive Communion, remarry, or date since my divorce or would I need an annulment first? }

Fr. Jonathan replied:
Hi Nicole,
- From the facts you gave. Yes, you can receive Holy Communion.
- A divorce does not change your status in the Church.
- Yes, you would need an Annulment prior to getting remarried.
- Yes, you can certainly date but, like all Catholics, you should live a chaste life.
