Hi, guys —

I am a 23-year-old man and have just started to have faith in Jesus. I not in a proper situation to get married. I mean, I don't have enough money to handle a life. Right now, I am college student. There are a couple questions I have in mind.

  • Is it possible for me to have sex with a sex worker or should I have a girlfriend?
  • Is it possible for single Christians to have sex outside of marriage?

As I mentioned, I am not in a proper situation for marriage, but I need sex.

Please help me to find the answer in this regard, because I love Jesus and I don't want to make Him sad.

Bashir

  { Can you answer some sex questions from a 23-year-old who has just started to have faith in Jesus? }

Eric replied:

Bashir,

The constant teaching of the Christian faith is that sex outside of marriage is gravely immoral. St. Paul specifically addresses the situation of a so-called sex worker when he says,

15 "Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? May it never be! 16 Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a harlot is one body with her? For He says, "The Two will become One Flesh. 17 But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 18 Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body."

(1 Corinthians 6:15-20)

10 Those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

(1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

I know it seems like you need sex, but you really don't. Don't give into that lie. It is possible to wean yourself off of it and live with self-control and chastity.

  • Do you really want to be controlled by your body, letting it lead you about by the nose like a cow with a nose-ring?

Do not let your body control you, rather, control your body. I know it is difficult to do but with God's grace, over time, you can accomplish it.

Eric
