Hi Mike,

  • Have you ever noticed how people keep saying someone should do something and people keep waiting for a Messiah to fix things?
  • If you were a foreman and gave your workers building supplies and tools, what would you do if you came back and the workers had done nothing?

What if they said, We were waiting for you to do it.

  • Wouldn't you fire those workers?

Mike replied:

Hi Janet,

Your question reminds me of one of Jesus' parables; either the Parable of the Ten Pounds (Luke 19:11-27) or the Parable of the Talents. (Matthew 25:14-30).

I think Jesus' implied answer in both these parables is an implied Yes . . . they are responsible!

You said:

Those who ask your first question (especially Catholics) tend to lack an understanding of the Eucharist as Catholic Christians should understand it. Though the Eucharist, we, yes we, partake in Divine nature with Our Lord to bring about change and fix things.

He fixes things through us, His Body, the active Church members!

With our free will, we are called to cooperate with Him and make the United States and the world a better Catholic Christian world to live in. This is our mission; it's not just up to our priests, who already provide for us the sacramental grace to carry us through our chosen vocation.

As to any sinful or improper actions taken by inactive, lukewarm, or indecisive brethren, we are called to correct in charity once, then move on.

After I correct my brother, I keep my focus on my particular judgment and don't put myself in a situation where I am playing God on a regular basis with friends, family and acquaintances.

I hope this helps,

Mike
