Bob replied:

Dear Ronald,

Thanks for the question.

Suicide is generally a mortal sin, but not in every situation. Only God can fully assess the culpability of any individual in any circumstance.

The reality is that the devil is always trying to create despair in people to undermine faith, hope and trust in God. God never leaves us alone in our trials and is Our Ultimate Vindicator. So we should always trust in Him, pray for protection, and put our lives in His Hands. Whatever the devil throws at us, our souls will be safe in God's care when we turn to Him.

So the answer is Jesus, the Blessed Virgin and St. Joseph: the Holy Family.

Pray to the Holy Family (JMJ):

  • for their [the someone you are referring to] protection
  • for yourself, and
  • for anyone who may be in a dangerous situation.

Peace,

Bob Kirby
