Hi, guys —

  • How you doing?

Recently, I've run into several articles on the internet about drinking tea and coffee being a sin.
I started drinking green tea because it's full of antioxidants and it could help ward off cancer.

In another article I read, it stated consuming caffeine is a sin because it can be addictive and because of the control it can have over you. It has a mild stimulant effect.

My intention was not to drink it for the caffeine but for its numerous health benefits. I also love the taste. I don't know if I'm addicted to it or not, but sometimes I have cravings for it. I don't know if it's the caffeine or the taste but I can usually control it. I don't want to stop drinking it but I also don't want to make God mad at me or go to Hell for this.

  • Can you please help me?
  • What should I do?

Thank you and God Bless,

Gregory

Eric replied:

Hi Gregory,

Have no worries. Drinking caffeine is not a sin except in the Mormon church. :-)

I suppose if you were to drink voluminous quantities of it such that it would endanger your health, that might be an issue, but at levels normally found in caffeinated drinks or (even high levels) of consumption, you have nothing to worry about.

Hope this helps,

Eric
