Dear Sirs,

Laudetur Iesus Christus!

I would like to ask you a practical question. I am sending religious posters by mail and they have already been blessed. My questions are:

  • Is this respectful towards the blessed object, since the envelope will be:
    • stamped, sometimes with violence, or
    • the poster can get:
      • lost
      • crumpled, or
      • wet during a rainy season, etc.?

One person suggested that it is better to send the items unblessed and have the person who receives them, get them blessed; then they will have more value.

  • Is it true that an object which gets blessed by the owner has more value than the same object which gets blessed by the person who gave the object?

Looking forward for your reply.

I remain yours faithfully, in Jesus and Mary,

Raj Kumar

  { Does it matter when an object is blessed and it is more valuable if it is blessed by the owner? }

Bob replied:

Dear Raj:

It makes no difference how or when it is blessed. It has the same net effect. If you feel it is important to send something that you had blessed, then do so.

Either way, there is no harm in sending blessed items through the mail. It happens frequently with holy things.

Peace,

Bob Kirby
