Hi, Gabriel —
Thanks for the question.
Yes, you would. Depending on your previous marital
history it could be very easy or take a little time.
The Church has to determine if your previous marriage
was valid or not.
I'm very happy you want to do things the right
way in regards to your marriage.
It will pay off big time in the long run. (MyKrazy Glueanalogy is important to remember.)
Over the years we have seen a lot of questions similar
to yours. There have been other questioners in more
difficult marital situations then yours, yet they
all wish to have their marriages blessed or recognized
by the Church.
It's a good sign for the Sacrament of Marriage in
the United States and, for that matter, around the
world.
If you pray on a regular basis and persevere, trust
me, things will turn out OK.
Remember, God knows your heart and blesses a good
heart that acts with good intentions.
Find a priest known for his holiness and faithfulness
to the Church. He will guide you through the process
and answer any additional questions.
Mike
