Hi, Health —
Speaking in tongues is a Scriptural
phenomena where the Holy Spirit takes
control of someone's speech and causes
them to utter things in languages
they do not know. See 1 Corinthians
12:10, 12:28-30, 13:1, 14:5-6, 14:18-23,
and 14:39. Sometimes it is a known
human language (and in some cases,
it is understood by a passerby and
becomes an unwitting tool for evangelization);
though sometimes it is not. It is primarily
seen in charismatic and pentecostal
circles.
It is not bad if you feel God is
with you. That is called a consolation
and is meant to encourage us. Do
not grow to rely on that feeling
because it will not last and does
not prove your holiness or anything
else.

- Also, is being a Pentecostal good or bad?
Whether Pentecostals are good or
bad depends. Typically, Pentecostals
are Protestants which means they
do not have the fullness of truth
that Catholicism has, and they frequently
are anti-Catholic and try to convert
Catholics away from the faith. That
would be bad, and unless you are
firm in your Catholic faith and knowledge
of Scripture (which I'd encourage
you to be anyway), I'd stay away
from them.
Occasionally, you'll hear references
to Pentecostal Catholics, but such
language is uncommon; a more common
term is Charismatic Catholics.
