Hi, Anonymous —
The Church teaches that every human
being has a right to be created out
of the love and self-donation of
a husband and wife. This is why God
created marriage, so that husband
and wife could give themselves totally
to each other in the conjugal act,
expressing their supreme love for
one another. Out of this love, according
to nature, comes the procreation
of human beings.
Cloning divorces
the act of human procreation from
the love of a husband and wife. (The
same is true with in
vitro fertilization and artificial
insemination.) It is an attempt to
produce, in a cold, dispassionate
laboratory setting, what should be,
by God's design, the fruit of marital
love.
It may also involve killing
human embryos (if it's anything like
in vitro fertilization).
