Hi. Winston —
You said:
- Why is it necessary to build
a relationship with God?
To discern what He wants us to do, right now based
on:
- where we are living
- our current age
- our current family situation
- etc.
The One who created us for a specific purpose in
life will definitively answer our prayers, but we
have to first ask, by establishing a relationship
with him.
You may ask:
While a man and woman together can copulate and together
bring forth new life, neither one of them will be
able to explain:
- How the soul was created. (the thinking process
of the human brain.)
- The origins of the human
eye
- The origins of the human circulatory
system, digestive systems, and
well as the other internal systems that keep the
human body alive.
Medical Science can explain most of the complexities,
but not their origins.
Whether one is in a family environment, or not,
there is so much love that has been given to us, just in how the human body works, that is taken for
granted by people around the world these days.
The natural law written on the hearts of all mankind
would want to give back some degree of thanks and
establish some good relationship with [his/her] Creator,
who Catholic Christians believe is:
Christ, Jesus, the Lord.
True God and True Man
One Divine Person consubstantial (of one substance) with the Father
You said:
- Are there any benefits for doing
so?
Sure there are benefits! Through prayer, we:
- give thanks, instead of taking things for granted
- bring sufferings, needs, desires, and problems
to God, and ask for his help.
In doing so, we are collaborators with Him in bringing
the Good News of Jesus and the Catholic faith to
the world.
- Will there still be difficult times in our life?
<Sure!>
- Will there still be easy/good times in our life?
<Sure!>
It's all part of the life of Christ which has its:
- joyful times
- enlightening or luminous times
- sorrowful times and if we persevere to the end
- glorious times.
Hope this answers your question.
Mike
