The Baptism would be a valid but illicit Baptism,
and you would be sinning, unless the child were in
danger of death.
- Why not just ask the mom what the problem is?
Perhaps they have problems of conscience about the
faith, or don't plan to practice it themselves. They
can still have the child baptized, as long as the
Catholic parent promises to raise the child Catholic.
In any case, the parents have this right and duty
before God, and no one should baptize their child without their
consent.
