Hi, guys —
- Does the Roman Catholic Church recognize
the Apostolic Succession and sacraments
of the Eastern Orthodox Church as valid?
This includes all autocephalous or autonomous churches i.e.:
- Greek Orthodox,
- Russian Orthodox,
- Orthodox Church in America (OCA),
- Antiochian Orthodox,
- Serbian Orthodox, etc.
Your answer is greatly appreciated!

Hi, John —
Just to add to what Eric said, it
also recognizes the Apostolic succession of the Nestorian and Monophysite Churches which went into schism after
the Council of Ephesus and Chalcedon.
She also recognizes the Apostolic
Succession of the Old Catholic Church which went into schism just after
Vatican I and the Polish National
Church which went into schism in
the 20th century here in the United
States because of the pastoral mistreatment
Polish Catholics were getting from
the Irish and German Catholic bishops
assigned to certain American dioceses.
