Hi, Paul —
Thanks for the question.
RE: your first question:
A T.V. show got kicked off the air and a lot
of people were sad, so a friend decided he
would put the show online for all the fans.
He tried to get copyright permission but the
company said they don't have it.
- Will he be barred from Heaven even though
he tried to get a copyright?
Using someone else's production (e.g.
T.V. show) without their permission
is a violation of their property
rights. This is wrong and is a sin
by earthly standards and by Heavenly
standards.
The only people barred from Heaven
are those who have committed, unrepentant
mortal sin. Whether a sin is a mortal
sin, depends on the state of conscience
of the person at the time of the
violation.
The Catechism tells us:
1857 For a sin to be mortal, three
conditions must together be
met:
Mortal sin is sin whose
object is:
- a grave matter
- which
is also committed with:
- full knowledge
- and deliberate consent.

I can't officially speak for the
Church, but I would personally question
whether the matter in your question
is grave.
- Was it a sin?
<Yes, if he was not able to get
the copyright permissions;
he should mention it in his next
Confession.>
- Was it a mortal sin?
<Probably not.>
You said:
- Also, what is the meaning of life?, I
mean:
- Why did God put us humans on the
earth?
This posting should help:
If not, get back to me.
