Hi, Heather —
Thanks for your question.
RCIA takes roughly between 1 to 2
years depending on where the a person
is on their journey, however, when
an adult is received into the Church,
they receive all the Sacraments of
Initiation:
- Baptism
- Confirmation, and
- the Eucharist
together. If you are baptized and
received into the Church in the Spring
of 2011, that is at the Easter Vigil,
you should be baptized, confirmed,
and receive your First Holy Communion
that very night.
If for some reason you aren't ready,
then it could take longer. Not being
ready, could depend on a lot of factors.
Understanding the faith and being
willing to submit to the Church's
teachings is crucial. A person
also must show a certain commitment.
All of this needs to be determined
by your RCIA team with a great deal
of input from yourself.
No one is
out to deny you entrance into the
Church so I wouldn't get stressed out
over anything. If they are telling
you that you will be baptized at the Easter
Vigil then, barring you telling
them or showing them you're not ready,
there should be no problem.
