Hello Chris,
Welcome to Catholicism! If I understand
you correctly, you want to civilly
re-marry your spouse to whom you
have civilly divorced.
Since the Church does not recognize
civil divorce as severing the marital
bond, if the marriage was indeed
valid, then there would be no reason
to remarry in the Church.
There are other questions to ask
though, such as whether your spouse
was Catholic at the time of the first
wedding.
If so, that may make the
marriage invalid in the eyes of the
Church, which would then make it
necessary to marry in the Church.
Go see your pastor and tell him everything.
He should guide you on what steps
need to be taken. Being a baptized
Catholic now also enables you to think
in terms of a sacramental marriage.
