Pagan gods were created by people across the globe who lost sight of the one true God after the fall of mankind. The religious sense in the supernatural that all men have in their hearts remained, but spiritual blindness due to original sin disabled men from knowing God as He should be known.

To answer your question, it is doubtful that pagan mythical gods were misidentified angels; it is more likely that they could have been misidentified demons; or perhaps demonic influence led people to:

• believe in such false gods, and
• do harmful things in their name, like sacrifice human beings as a religious ritual.
