Hi, guys —
I just have a quick question. I am considering signing up for a psychology experiment at my school and was curious about whether or not I should.
The experiment has me looking at images which depict scenes common to veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).
- Is there anything wrong with seeing pictures of graphic violence?
The experiment wants me to talk about how I feel about the pictures after they are shown to me, so I assume they will be violent.
If you could let me know your opinion it would be great.

No, not necessary.

It depends on what the purpose of the experiment is. What is the motivating purpose behind it.
When you find out, just use your Christian conscience to discern whether it conflicts with any Christian values. If it doesn't, go right ahead.
My colleagues may have an opinion as well.

Whatever comes through our senses become a part of us in as much as our minds, hearts, and memories are affected; even if it be to a slight degree.
Hence, as a general principle, it is good to maintain a proper guardedness, a custody of the eyes and mind, that keeps the sin of the world from affecting us as much as reasonably possible.
The level and quantity of violence you expose yourself to should be discerned prudently.
