Hi Joci,
I found a related question by searching our knowledge base.
Two previous priest-helpers, Fr. Francis and Fr. Nick answered this for us.
One topic that doesn't get much catechesis these days is the universal priesthood we all share as baptized Christians. The universal priesthood in Jesus Christ extends to all men and women who have received valid trinitarian baptism. Through our universal priesthood, we can offer up, and should always offer up, all our prayers, works, joys, and suffering in union with our Blessed Mother and the saints to the Lord and His Perpetual Sacrifice on the Cross.
Our universal priesthood is distinct from the ministerial priesthood which calls baptized Catholic men to be other Christ's so the sacraments of the Church can be offered to the faithful in the Church. The Church only calls baptized Catholic men to the ministerial priesthood because Jesus was only a true man.
