Debra,
I am so sorry to hear your struggles. Becoming a Catholic would be a great act of faith and I hope that your situation allows it.
- Are you currently married or are you only divorced?
- If you are currently not married, there is nothing preventing you from being baptized.
- If you are currently married then there may be obstacles.
You have said: I am not able to receive an annulment.
This probably means that you need one and have been officially rejected.
- If that is the case, then you might want to get a second opinion.
- If it is not the case, then be careful about making assumptions.
I meet lots of people that assume they know their situation and so never speak with anyone who could truly give then answers.
This is all I can discern from your question. I urge you to speak to your priest and see if you can get this all done.
Fr. Jonathan
