Generally, I would say that music without lyrics is neutral.

We first have to determine if the lyrics or listening to them is actually sinful. We need to be careful not to go overboard in calling everything sinful.

Now as it relates to your situation, if the lyrics are truly sinful, people listening to the music might be reminded of the lyrics so you might not want participate in that but I wouldn't go so far as calling it sinful to play.

We want to be good witnesses but in doing so we don't want to appear so extreme that we chase people away from the faith.
