Hi, guys —
Good Morning,
I have been searching for information regarding the Catholic Church position on natural care.
Namely:
- Chiropractic treatments
- Naturopathy
- Physiotherapy
- Massage therapy
- Herbs, and
- Homeopathy.
I have found many sites with personal opinions but not one representing the views of the Catholic Church. I am not sure if you can help me but perhaps you can direct me to an official site.
I have been in a car accident leaving me with a number of issues including whiplash and concussion. My time on the computer is very limited because of the symptoms; they get worse when I use the computer. I have been offered Ozone therapy by injection into the sore areas and Magnetic therapy as well by a Naturopath. I have had treatment by a Chiropractor and Physiotherapist with some good success.
That said, I do not want to go against the Catholic teachings.

Thanks for the question.
To my knowledge the Catholic Church has not taken any position on any of these natural care therapies nor has she taken any negative position on any of them. In fact some of them, like Chiropractic treatments, have helped many.
My colleagues may have more to add.

Hi, Linda —
The only thing to watch out for is Reiki. Some holistic therapists dabble in New Age practices like Reiki in which they claim to be calling on spiritual energies and what not.
That is definitely not in line with Christian beliefs. I would stay away from it, lest you inadvertently open yourself up to the demonic.
