Hello and thank you for taking the time to answer my question!

I am currently a former Protestant hoping to enter into the Church. I have not yet attended a Mass since my husband and I are in the process of moving to a new town and we want to wait to settle before attending RCIA classes. I do pray the Rosary daily though and have read and fully agree with the Catechism of the Church.

My question is regarding my marriage. My husband was formerly married for about one year to a woman that he did not really wish to marry but felt pressured to. It was a secular ceremony in Las Vegas. They divorced because of adultery. She was seeking relations with a man but had no interest in having children. My husband was an atheist at the time.

When my husband and I were married three years ago, I was an agnostic and he was an atheist. We were married in a strictly civil union and were baptized in a Protestant church in June of 2013. My question is:

• When we start taking the steps to formally enter the Church will our marriage have a chance of being validated?

This is something very important to us as upon reading the Catechism of the Church we now understand the importance of the sacrament of Marriage.
