Hi, guys —
My parents were married for 55 years and my father died six months ago. My mother has announced she has a boyfriend with whom she is keeping company to include physical intimacy. While my father was alive it was no secret that the two of them were attracted to one another.
The problem: He is married. He is also (supposedly) a devout Catholic. Over the past month my mom and he have gotten the necessary paperwork done to have his wife admitted to an Alzheimer's facility so she is now out of the picture.
My mom justifies this by saying:
- the wife is as good as dead
- that times have changed and
- God wants them to be happy, etc.
I don't see an expiration date on the Sixth Commandment.
- What are your thoughts?
- Can he still be a good Catholic and date my mom?
